(BSc, MSc Charles University)

I am interested in the biogeochemistry and paleolimnology of polar environments, with a focus on how “legacy” organic matter—stored over millennia in lake sediments or under ice sheets—interacts with the modern climate.
During my PhD at the Arctic University of Norway, I used isotopic tracers and sediment analysis to track methane production, discovering that ancient organic matter remains an important driver of modern emissions in northern lakes. I am now extending this focus to the Greenland Ice Sheet as part of the OReOS project, where I use isotopic analysis to characterize subglacial organic matter being exported from beneath the ice.
My background is rooted in ecology and paleolimnology. During my MSc, I studied freshwater diatoms on Vega Island, Antarctica, to understand how landscape connectivity and local hydrology influence the biological proxies we use to reconstruct environmental history.
