I did my PhD in marine biogeochemistry, modelling the effects of organic matter reactivity on benthic-pelagic coupling in marine sediments. I continued my modelling work at the Free University Amsterdam (Netherlands) focusing on carbon biogeochemistry in Arctic rivers and on estimating ice content in permafrost landscapes. I will now be focusing on the mathematical modelling of subglacial biogeochemical processes that drive methane export to quantify the potential fluxes and implications of subglacially derived carbon released from the Greenland Ice Sheet.
